The first woman MC to be signed to Roc Nation and the recipient of a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Rap Album for Laila’s Wisdom Rapsody (Marlanna Evans) newest album is also an ode to her mother and other black female artists, including singer Lauryn Hill and actress Phylicia Rashad.
